“Three Cheers for the Red, White, and Blue!” This month, for my “Dishcloth {and Bonus Gift} of the Month” group, I stayed traditional and patriotic and made each of them a Star Granny Square Dishcloth and Star Scrubby.

TIP: Add this to your Pinterest Board and/or share on Facebook now so you can easily find it later 🙂

These both work up rather quickly. Use the granny squares as dishcloths, washcloths, oversized coasters (or “mug rugs”), blanket squares, and more.

The scrubbies can be used for dishes, cleaning kitchen or bath fixtures, or even as an exfoliator in the bath or shower.

Using K (6.50mm) Crochet Hook and 6 inch tulle:

Cut tulle up the middle so you are working with a 3 inch wide strip

Round 1: Working in MC, dc 15, slst to join, ch 2

Round 2: starting in same st as join (dc 3, ch 1) 5 times around, slst to join

Round 3: slst, *(dc 2, tc, ch 3, tc, dc 2) all in ch 1 sp, sk st, slst in 2nd dc*, repeat *to* 4 more times, F/O red, tie knots at the bottom of beginning and ending tails

Make a 2nd star following above instructions, but do not F/O.

Hold both stars together with right sides facing out. Make sure tails are on the inside…no need to weave them in, they can serve as “stuffing” to make the scrubby a little thicker.

Starting where you left off, sc 3, at ch sp on the peak place a (sc, dc, sc) all in that sp, sc in next 3 sts. Continue sc and peak sequence around. Slst to join, F/O, weave in end or stuff into center.
